Founded by Professor Huanting Wang and his team at the Monash University Department of Chemical Engineering, 2D Water has been built from the ground up with a concerted focus on fundamental knowledge, research and development to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge membrane solutions to the challenges of seawater desalination and wastewater treatment.

What is Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses semipermeable membranes to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles from water. Because RO membranes allow water to flow through them while being essentially impermeable to salt, by combining industrial-scale process engineering with innovative membrane design, modern RO systems can purify and desalinate millions of litres of water per day. As a result, RO desalination has become the world’s most used water purification technology since its initial commercialization in 1965. As clean water becomes increasingly valuable in the future, the market for water purification technologies is expected to grow significantly and RO will continue to play a significant role in satisfying this demand.
